• Allergen profile: The allergens you tell us about so we can personalize your results.
• Scan history: Photos you scan and the results we return, so you can review them later.
• Community posts: Reviews, ratings, and comments you share publicly.
• Usage data: Basic analytics like which pages you visit, to help us improve the app.

• Personalization: Your allergen profile powers every scan result and safety rating you see.
• Safety ratings: We use community data to calculate restaurant allergen safety scores.
• Product improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us build better features.
• Account security: Your email is used for login, password resets, and important account notifications.

SafeBite uses a few external services to deliver core features:

• OpenAI and Google Vision: When you scan a photo, the image is sent to these AI services for ingredient and allergen analysis. They process the image and return results. We do not share your personal info with them.
• Google Places: We use this to show restaurant locations, hours, and details on the map.

• Your data is stored in a SQLite database on secure servers.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We never store your password in plain text and we cannot see it.
• All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Period. Your allergen profile, scan history, and account data belong to you. We make money through our product, not your data.

SafeBite does not use traditional tracking cookies. We store a JWT (JSON Web Token) in your browser's localStorage to keep you logged in. This token is only used for authentication and expires automatically. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
